Tower of David Night Spectacular
There is nothing quite like watching a sound and light show on the walls of a medieval citadel at the edge of Jerusalem's Old City. Tourists visiting Israel want to make sure not to miss this dazzling show, which integrates the latest technology with ancient artifacts to tell the story of the city of Jerusalem.
Begin your visit with a walk-through tour of the citadel and its surrounding gardens. Then watch the stones of the walls and the smaller structures fade into scenes that envelop you and whisk you off to a one-of-a-kind, multi-sensory experience. The show makes use of numerous high-tech processors, projectors and loudspeakers, so that you are totally surrounded by the story.
Original music accompanies the history of the city from the ancient Israelite kings, through the Roman period, the Crusaders and Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, to the British Mandate and the establishment of the State of Israel. Watch peoples come and go, warriors riding up to the city walls and residents going about their daily lives. Rich in information that the adults will appreciate, the show is bright and loud enough for children to enjoy, even as they learn a little.
The Tower of David Museum recommends ordering tickets for the Night Spectacular in advance, especially for large groups. The show is 45 minutes long, and warm clothing is recommended (even in the summer the nights can get cool), since the entire show is outdoors. The show takes place every evening after dark, except when there is inclement weather.
